A short introduction to Dr Werner J. Blau:

Werner J. Blau joined Trinity College Dublin in 1983 after completing his doctorate at the university in his hometown Regensburg, Germany. Since 2003 he holds a Personal Chair of Physics of Advanced Materials. He is Honorary Professor in the Chemistry Department of East China University of Science and Technology; Visiting Honorary Professor, Northwest University, Xi’an,China; and was Honoured Professor and China National High-end Foreign Expert at SIOM, Chinese Academy of Science. Prof. Blau is one of the Irish pioneers of nanotechnology. He is internationally well-known and highly cited for his original work in interdisciplinary nanoscience.

A short introduction to Prof.Daolun Chen:

Dr. Chen is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Ryerson University. He received his BS in 1983, MS in 1986 in Materials Science and Engineering from Northeastern University, China; Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, 1989; and his second doctorate (Dr.rer.nat.) in Chemistry from the University of Vienna, Austria, 1993. In addition, Dr. Chen obtained a Certificate in Higher Education Teaching at the University of Manitoba in 2000. Prior to joining Ryerson University as an Assistant Professor (2001-2004) and then Associate Professor (2004-2008), Dr. Chen worked as a Post-doc Fellow (1993-1995) and Senior Research Scientist (1995-1997) at the University of Vienna; Research Associate at the University of Manitoba (1997-2000); and Materials and Process Engineer at Bristol Aerospace Ltd., Winnipeg, Manitoba (2000-2001).


Dr. Chen, an elected Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering (FCAE), Fellow of Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (FCIM), Fellow of Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM), and a recipient of Premier's Research Excellence Award (PREA), Canadian Metal Physics Award, G.H. Duggan Medal, MetSoc Award for Research Excellence, MetSoc Distinguished Materials Scientist Award, Sarwan Sahota Distinguished Scholar Award, Ryerson inaugural Faculty SRC Award, FEAS Research Excellence Award, and Ryerson Research Chair, has authored 419 peer-reviewed journal (334) and conference (85) papers, plus 199 additional non-refereed conference papers/abstracts and research reports, including an invited "Advanced Engineering Materials Hall of Fame" article and two sets of "ABC" journals (Set one: Acta Materialia, Biomaterials, and Carbon; Set two: Materials Science and Engineering A, B, and C), Journal of Power Sources, Journal of Magnesium and Alloys, Scripta Materialia, etc. An incomplete search (mainly based on the Web of Science) indicates that his research results have been cited 7,365 times by other researchers (or 9,500+ citations with an h-index of 51 from Scopus, or 11,000+ citations with an h-index of 55 from Google Scholar), including those cited in 240 review papers, 105 books or book chapters (where the number of the authored/non-edited books is 30), and 9 handbooks/sourcebooks or encyclopedia. His ground-breaking work on the nanocomposite materials leads to a well-known method that bears his name, and is twice identified by the Council of Canadian Academies (consisting of the Royal Society of Canada, Canadian Academy of Engineering, and Canadian Academy of Health Sciences) to be one of the top 1% most highly cited papers in his field worldwide.

A short introduction to Prof.Yunzhi Wang:

Dr. Wang is a professor in the Department of MSE at Ohio State University. His research interests span the areas of modeling and simulation of microstructure evolution during transformation and deformation in structural materials, SMAs and metallic glasses. Dr Wang received his B.Sc. (1982) and M. Sc. (1985) in Metallurgy from Northeastern University of China and Ph.D. (1995) in Materials Science from Rutgers University. Dr. Wang has published ~ 250 refereed journal articles (with over 100 in Acta Materialia). His major awards include NSF CAREER Award (1997), Harrison Faculty Award for Excellence in Engineering Education, The Ohio State University (2010), Fraunhofer Bessel Research Award (2012) from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany, and Cyril Stanley Smith Award (2020) from TMS.
